THE IMPORTANCE OF BREAKFAST!

Do you run out the door at the last second after hurrying through your morning routine? I know I do! But making time to grab breakfast (or prepping the night before) is SO important, because starting your day right with healthy fuel not only gets your day started on the right foot, but benefits your body is so many ways! From boosting your metabolism, fueling your body after a long fast & rest period, and giving your body the proper energy & calories to use, breakfast is truly the most important meal of the day.

Some people (like my husband who still struggles to get a meal in and then calls me at 11am before lunch completely dragging, lol!) don’t feel they have an appetite bright & early. WHY? Because they’re tired and their body NEEDS FUEL… BREAKFAST! Some feel they don’t have time for breakfast, but all it takes is an extra five minutes (or a few minutes the evening prior) to grab a meal, eating it on the go, or sitting down for a few minutes and relaxing before your day begins. I used to tell myself I had no time to eat, but waking up 10 minutes earlier has allowed me time to shower, make my coffee, scramble some eggs and sit down for seven minutes and enjoy breakfast. Just a few minutes is all it takes!

Now the excuse about not liking breakfast… There are SO many options for breakfast, which has become my favorite meal of the day. This is also probably the easiest (for me) meal of the day! Your breakfast doesn’t have to be huge, but enough to replenish your body after a long rest period, and enough calories so your body can comfortably make it through to your next meal, since calories are always burning. (NOTE: If I know I have to be out of the house super early, I pack my breakfast at night, normally a fruit serving, protein and complex carb- my favorite meal being a spinach and egg white scramble in a flat-out wrap, with half a cup of strawberries.)

HERE ARE SOME GREAT, QUICK & EASY BREAKFAST IDEAS TO GRAB AND GO:

  • GREEK YOGURT WITH FRESH FRUIT AND GRANOLA
  • SLICED FRUIT WITH HARDBOILED EGGS
  • SMOOTHIES (FRUIT, MILK, YOGURT, PROTEIN, OATS)

  • OATMEAL (ROLLED OATS OR INSTANT OATMEAL SINGLE SERVING PACKETS)
  • MINI EGG CUPS (EGGS AND VEGGIES BAKED IN A CUPCAKE TIN)
  • SCRAMBLED EGGS (OR EGG WHITES) AND A SLICE OF WHOLE WHEAT TOAST WITH ALL-NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER
  • WHOLE GRAIN/WHEAT FRENCH TOAST (NO SUGAR OR SYRUP, USE A LITTLE HONEY FOR A SWEET FLAVOR)
